Application of Hazemeter in glass industry

Author:CHNSpec technology

The simple classification of glass is mainly divided into flat glass and special glass.

Glass is very common in daily use, from external wall windows to indoor screens, door leaves and precision instruments.

Due to the wide application range of glass, the performance requirements of glass are also relatively high. Generally speaking, in the visible light range, there are high requirements for glass haze and transmittance, so as to be suitable for more different occasions.

1. Glass haze and transmittance

Haze is also called turbidity. The degree of clarity of transparent or translucent materials is expressed as the percentage of the ratio of scattered luminous flux to the luminous flux of transparent materials. Transmittance is expressed as a percentage of the ratio of the luminous flux of the material to the incident luminous flux.

Haze calculation method: a beam of parallel light from the standard "C" light source is vertically irradiated on the transparent or translucent glass. Due to the scattering caused by the interior and surface of the material, part of the parallel light deviates from the incident direction by more than 2.5 º, which is the percentage of the ratio of the scattered luminous flux td to the luminous flux T2 passing through the material, that is, the haze calculation formula. It is an important parameter of optical transparency of transparent or translucent materials.

Haze and transmittance are two concepts. The light transmittance of materials with high haze can not be low. If such materials are used as window glass, the room will look bright during the day, but it is hidden; If you make a car windshield, it obviously requires both to be good, so as to facilitate true observation.

2. Measuring instrument

Glass is more and more widely used. Of course, the quality inspection of products should also be strictly controlled. What are the factors that affect the performance index of glass? Glossiness is undoubtedly one of the most important performance indexes of glass. However, it is not the only standard to judge whether the glass is suitable for customers. There are glass thickness, haze, roughness, clarity, and whether it is double-sided or single-sided. Among them, roughness and clarity will affect the haze and transmittance of the glass. The factors that can be recognized by the naked eye can be controlled manually. What about the factors that are difficult to be recognized by the naked eye (haze and transmittance)? This requires the use of professional instruments - Hazemeter (also known as Hazemeter) to detect!
